Closure
Maracci looked at Chidinma with her cup of tea held with both of her hands. Of course her beautiful friend was dressed in a black hanging top accompanied by a red short skirt.
"Have you interviewed him? What did he say about us?" Chidinma chewed on her finger nails because she was nervous. Maracci shook her head, she had to be professional, at least until she's done with interviewing her friend.
"Chidinma," Maracci said softly.
Chidinma looked up, her little Asian-like eyes seemed bigger in that moment.
"You're here for an interview and I can't be unprofessional and show you his. You'll see his answers when the article is over and published so sit down on my couch and be responsive."
Chidinma rolled her eyes but still rested on the couch crossing her legs in the process, "I'm listening miss."
Her tone was sarcastic but maracci didn't care, she just needed to get the interview done with.
She crossed the room to grab a pen and paper. From the other end of the room, she stood beside the shelf resting sightly on it.
"When he first approached you, what was your impression of him? What made you interested in him?"
Chidinma blinked, she held her bottom lip between her white teeth. "I can't really say, he was fine, he was dark, I always have an issue mixing up with dark boys even though I claim that fair is my specialty. But to be honest, the thing that caught me and kept me hooked was his voice, Mehn you needed to listen to him talk."
Maracci chuckled lightly at her friend's exaggerated tone. She jotted down in her note book.
"Moving on, what was your first impression of him?"
"He was real, wasn't fake. And yeah, he was shy so it was cute to watch him talk."
"So if you're asked to describe the relationship you guys had... What would you say Ps. You're allowed to say enough to fill a hard cover note."
Chidinma played with her phone for a while before she looked up. Her eyes looked somewhat sad.
"It was fast, really fast, too fast. And hell it was both happy and sad, a relationship I can never forget."
"so what went wrong?"
Chidinma stood up abruptly and went to sit down on another sofa. "I bet he didn't answer that question right?"
"Chidinma, what he answered and didn't answer is none of your business for now, this is an interview between me and you, you just have to answer simply."
She closed her eyes and rested her head on the sofa. "I don't know, one day we were good, the next day he started seeming distant, then he asked for a break and then a break up. It was too fast to understand. At first he claimed it was his football, I guess that was it."
"You still love him?"
"is that among the questions?" Chidinma asked sounding somewhat annoyed as her head shot up and her eyes looked at maracci.
Maracci shook her head.
"Then don't ask unprofessional questions please."
There was a pause. Maracci turned the page of her book to move on to the next question.
"But the answer is yes though."
Chidinma stared long and hard at her bitten fingers, maracci looked at Chidinma, she swallowed.
"We're left with two questions, your favorite moments with him?"
Chidinma laughed lightly. "Well, I actually have three. The first one was when we walked back home together from work and we stopped at a pitch nearby to watch a match for a while. We were really happy that day. The second one was when he asked me to join him watch a movie. We held hands through out and it was sweet. The third and most important was when he cried in front of me. If someone let's you see them weak, that's a whole special level of intimate. It was then and there that I fell in love with him."
"Aside the sexual connection, do you think you guys were there for each other?"
Chidinma let her finger trace the rim of her cup, this was a hard one.
"I can't really say yes nor can I say no. It's confusing. Let's not go into details please."
Maracci jotted, "The last question, Anything you wanna add about the relationship? Things you learnt from him?"
"He thought me how to be passionate about things I loved, like dancing. It was an adventure, one I can't describe with just one word."
Chidinma was smiling, the type that reached her eyes and made them crinkle.
"Chidinma, you wanna see his answers? I'm not supposed to show you but fuck it."
Chidinma ran to Maracci's side and sat beside her. She turned a leaf and there it was.
"I just copied the whole chat here, haven't had time to single out only his answers."
Chidinma let her eyes skim over the paper covered in ink.
Q.1
What attracted you to her? What intrigued you about her? Why did you go for her?
This is one question, I'm just trying to explain it more
Him: Ass 🤣and face
Maracci: 😂wow, ok
Interesting.
What was your first impression of her?
Him: She is cool
Maracci: Okay
So if you're asked to describe the relationship you guys had... What would you say
(You're allowed to write enough to fill a hard cover note
I need you to be truthful, just imagine you're talking to someone else that doesn't even know Chidinma.
Him: it was more of sexual cus she was irresistible and I didn't regret anything. I still want more though🤣
😂😂
Chidinma paused and looked at maracci, "I'm sexy aren't I?"
"Yes you are," she laughed, "did you consider him sexy?"
Chidinma bit her bottom lip, " Which fitness instructor isn't sexy?"
The duo laughed before they continued reading the paper.
Maracci: So what went wrong?
Him: I don't know
No answer
"I knew he was going to dodge it," Chidinma declared. "oh, well, it's his business. I've always wanted to know so that we could fix it but I can't force him right?"
Maracci: knew we were going to have this issue
Him: What issue
Maracci: If you don't answer it to the end, the whole interview is useless
Why are you skipping that question
Him: Sry
Maracci: Damn💔
Thanks tho, at least you tried
Two more questions?
Am I allowed to ask two more
Him: OK
Maracci: Your favorite moments with her?
Him: D night we first made love
Maracci: Okay....
Aside the sexual connection, do you think you guys were there for each other physically? Mentally?
Or Emotionally?
Him: Nah
"Damn, is that what he thought. Okay."
Chidinma closed the book. She swallowed and sniffed then sighed as her shoulders slumped.
"Well, I guess this chapter is closed now."
"I guess so too," Maracci replied her friend knowing she wasn't just talking about the interview.
