Closure

Maracci looked at Chidinma with her cup of tea held with both of her hands. Of course her beautiful friend was dressed in a black hanging top accompanied by a red short skirt.  "Have you interviewed him? What did he say about us?" Chidinma chewed on her finger nails because she was nervous. Maracci shook her head, she had to be professional, at least until she's done with interviewing her friend. "Chidinma," Maracci said softly.  Chidinma looked up, her little Asian-like eyes seemed bigger in that moment. "You're here for an interview and I can't be unprofessional and show you his. You'll see his answers when the article is over and published so sit down on my couch and be responsive." Chidinma rolled her eyes but still rested on the couch crossing her legs in the process, "I'm listening miss." Her tone was sarcastic but maracci didn't care, she just needed to get the interview done with.  She crossed t...

Depression in a nutshell

The moment of peace, you say you needed a rest so you're taking it now. You don't want to think about anything but somehow you catch your self thinking. Little yous in your head are having a conversation and you're forced to take the seat, at the head of the table. 'let's listen to them, it shouldn't take a minute'. They introduce the doubts, ask you if you're happy. You think and realise you aren't happy. They remind you of everything you couldn't get, they remind you of the losses. I wish you never listened to them, I wish you had an argument with them. You'll sink in for a while then dismiss the meeting. It continues. Today's meeting is different, you're not at the head of the table. The l ittle yous in your head which you've come to realise are your demons have taken their seat and the wheel. You don't want to listen but somehow you're caged to the spot. They go over everything, tell you you're a lose...

STAY HAPPY, STAY SAFE, DON'T PANIC.

These days more byes are said and it's scary. Everybody's traveling, leaving each other's sight to a place they feel is safe,. For most of us, that is home, even if it logically isn't safe. I love it when we crack jokes about our newest rival, covid-19. I love to see the memes, I love to crack petty jokes about the pandemic, I love it when I'm with friends and we're all saying we aren't scared at all when in reality we are a second away from having that mental breakdown. Even if we aren't scared for ourselves, we're scared for those loved ones, we're scared for our parents that are more vulnerable to it. We're scared we might never have a chance to blow, or do couple goals with our husbands and wives...( this one is not my hand writing o) , or see our children and how stupid or smart they would become.  I see right through our jokes. When our lips strain from the laughter, it whispers the panic for a slight second. When we say we ar...

WHAT IS LOVE?

Image
What is love? I could say love is when he looks at you, when he holds your hands, love's everything he was but he did it because it was also beneficial to him. Love's putting someone first, being selfless, stupid for a person. But then, you could love yourself and be selfish, would that still be love? Dang, I'm hitting a spot in your brain. I could say I've experienced love before, because they said it'd make you happy,  beautiful, wanted, and everything pretty. I once felt those things. Love made me happy, and tore me apart. I'd stand in front of the mirror and stare back at my red eyes, the colour believed to denote love, was that why my eyes were red? Love brought me happiness and also sadness. It ended in tears, just like they said it would. * inserts sad laughing emoji if that exists.* I went ahead and made a conclusion. Love is beautiful, sad, happy, confusing, and confusing. Love is many things, but most of all, Love is beauti...

After the dinner

The night was cold, and it was late. Finding a cab was going to take patience and we had none of that. We had both walked out, hands interlocked, to the chilly breeze. Within seconds of waiting, I was freezing. "I'm freezing," I declared wrapping my arms around me. He turned to look at me before he held me in his arms. "Let's enter a bike, it's easier to get." I nodded. When the bike stopped, I climbed first, then he entered behind me. "Come over here," he nicely ordered as he made me relax into his warm embrace. "What do you want to do tonight?" He asked casually. I bit my tongue. "I want to be happy." "And happy you would be." I smiled a little, then rested my head on his chin. Soon we were at his place, we climbed down and I walked in ahead of him while he paid. I knew where his key was, it was always under the carpet. I bent to pick it up then let my self in. The room was warm, the ligh...

At the dinner

This night, I was his date to his departmental dinner. Harry was dressed in a black tux, no tie, no suit, just ironed black pants and his polished black shoe. Since his place was closer to the venue, I met him there. Bridgette gave me the advice, the one that was getting harder to heed to everyday. The one where she told me to lock it up because he wasn't my boyfriend anymore. I had laughed at her tone, but as I stood in front of him that night, I prayed for forgiveness because I knew I was going to sin. His pupils looked darker, it was the same way they had looked last two months when we were still a couple and he'd kiss me in bed. The way he looked at me now was exactly how he looked at me when he'd spread my legs open with just his knee. I tightened my hold on my black purse.  "You look really good." His voice pierced into whatever wall of silence that had enveloped us. I simply smiled back in response. "You ready?" He asked after he ...

My Christmas insight

Man, In his own image we were created Given power to rule the earth But the serpent couldn't let it be A plan he formulated There was a forbidden fruit Which man wasn't meant to eat But the serpent lured, and man fell The fall of man God looked down on us With pity and love so surplus He decided to bring us salvation Through his son, we were given the gift of redemption It was a great decision The most thoughtful gift that can't go into extinction The coming of our Messiah Prophesied by Isiah A beginning of the creation Of a new generation With victory declaration A call for celebration The coming of our savior With love peace and favor The dawn of a new era Our Redeemer forever He caused the serpent to surrender A day we'll forever remember I do not speak of a fake But a giver so true His life he agreed to sacrifice That we may be assured of eternal life Sited around the fire The Christmas light illuminating the chilly night Dre...
